“That’s what a good treasury secretary should do”

I’m sorry but the last time I checked, a “good treasury secretary” should help the president with the economy and the like. Not “resign within the hour” as Orrin Hatch (R) stated. Besides, I thought that politics was about “man-ning up” to the job (and thus, women are constantly critiqued for the most ridiculous things, but I’ll save that for another post). And the last time I checked, resignation wasn’t a characteristic of “man-ning up”.

Orrin Hatch, and many other “top Republicans”, need to realize that the fiscal fiasco that we are in right now was a result of 30 years of poor judgment from presidents and Congress members alike. The fiscal war rocket they launched – which was intended to help Congress reach a bipartisan agreement – was launched at themselves. So they have no one else but themselves to blame.

As the head of the Congressional Black Caucus, Marcia Fudge, put it to Senators McCain and Graham, “Just go on and hate on. But look in the mirror and hate yourself, not the people who do this work.” I believe this comment applies to Orrin Hatch as well.
